In my limited free time I try to do things that keep me in shape and keep my couriousity and creativity alive. Both are essential for being a good researcher. I take some time to work on my own software and engineering projects. I recently started designing an autonomos underwater vehicle to shoot stereo 3D videos of shipwrecks and underwater wildlife.

I also am a musician and have been a singer in many small and large vocal ensembles. Outdoors, I enjoy running, hiking, camping, sailing and paragliding. Having spent 6 years in New Mexico I got a good share of outdoors, desert and mountain hiking. I try to take advantage of the great sailing opportunities in Madison whenever I can.
